Symposium in Haifa: Religions Against Fundamentalism and Hate

The conference was held on 7 May by The Haifa laboratory for spiritual Studies (HLRS), operating at the University of Haifa, 1 of the most cosmopolitan universities in Israel. The honorary guests of this event were: Israeli president Isaac Herzog, British Minister of mediate East Affairs Lord Tariq Ahmed (linking from London) and leading interreligious dialog figure Rabbi David Rosen, head of the “Religions for Peace” organization. Haifa was not accidentally chosen to replace this event, as it is simply a city in which different religions share 1 another, which was besides powerfully emphasized. Muslims, Christians and Jews survey together at the university itself. 1 panel pointed out that integration is necessary, not assimilation.** The difference is that assimilation is based on the elimination of another cultures by the dominant, while the essence of integration is not that we tolerate each other, but that we work together in keeping our separate identities.
