On Thursday, August 28, around 7:30 p.m. at Radom-Sadków Airport, an F-16 "Jastrzeb" fighter from the F-16 Tiger Demo squad crashed. The RSZ Operations Command reported in a communication that the pilot Major Maciej "Slab" Krakowian was killed in the accident.
Witnesses study the F-16 disaster
On the scene of tragedy, witnesses reported what they saw. – He flew very rapidly and made a half loop somewhere on the another side of the airport – said 1 of them in a conversation with TVN24. As he added, the fighter "with advanced force and advanced velocity hit the ground". – We have only seen a large fungus, fire and detonation sound, which came a fewer seconds after the event – he said.
The man besides pointed out that "to the end the plane was on a booster, meaning to the end the pilot was sitting behind the rudders". There was no sign that "the pus flew away, nor any catapult."
Another added that it was hard to tell what had happened. He said it was "very fast, it was specified a half loop." In general, the air raid was very fast. These were dynamic maneuvers. These maneuvers liked the audience," he said. He besides added that "the plane flew almost all the time on a booster".
Major Maciej "Slab" Krakowian is dead
The head of the MON Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish spoke after the tragedy and expressed his condolences to the Major's family. – I wanted to express my deepest sympathy on behalf of myself and the full Ministry of Defence. To those who knew our wonderful pilot, I would like to give these greetings of respect," he said.
He added that the airport services, including the airport fire department, are operating at the scene of the accident. safety work is ongoing, among others. – All services were used, all procedures were launched. Everything is coordinated on the spot, in Radom – he said.
General Ireneusz Nowak, Air Force Inspector at the General Command of Armed Forces Types, did not cover the stir. – Maciek was 35 years old, he left a wonderful wife Magda and 2 twins, wonderful boys," he said.
