Sweden and Finland are taking their defence cooperation to the next level. On August 28, the 2 countries announced that they would jointly strengthen surveillance and the protection of Finland’s territorial integrity, with a peculiar focus on detecting and countering drones. This goes beyond specified information sharing. Legal and military mechanisms already let the Swedish Armed Forces to operate on Finnish territory, even in peacetime, if Helsinki and Stockholm find that specified support is necessary.
