The government has prepared amendments to the rules to guarantee that the limits of budget expenditure for the financing of universal services are compatible between 2026 and 2027 with EU requirements.
According to the Ministry of State Assets, after the amendment of the Act, backing will be provided to support the unchangeable provision of postal services throughout the country.
Significant support for Polish Post
The Government Work Programming squad entered a draft amendment of the Postal Law Act (UD225) on the list of government works. The draft envisages adjusting the limits of the state budget expenditure for financing the net cost of universal service obligations in the years 2026 and 2027, as set out in Article 5(1)(5) and (6) of the Postal Law Amendment, to the amounts indicated in the European Commission Decision of 15 November 2024. This means crucial support for the Polish Post Office:
- PLN 997 000 000,00 in 2026;
- 960 000 000,00 PLN in 2027.
The Act will enter into force on 1 January 2026.
The amendment will let Poczta Polska to fulfil the work to supply universal services in a unchangeable and consistent manner, and will guarantee the safety of citizens utilizing these services.
The draft states that the Act will enter into force on 1 January 2026.
