Shopping on Sundays inactive divide Poles – almost half of the society does not want to return to trade on the last day of the week, and only a small little believes that shops should be open. The latest poll shows a deep division besides among voters of presidential candidates.
42 percent of respondents believe that trade should be restored on Sunday; the other opinion is 49 percent, and 8 percent do not know - according to a survey poll Opinion24 for Radio Zet. The issue of Sunday purchases divides society and besides electorate presidential candidates.
Most of the voters of Karol Nawrocki and Sławomir Mentzen do not agree to return to trade on Sunday – rather different from those of Rafał Trzaskowski and Szymon Holown.
Obserwacja Opani24 commissioned by Radio ZET to examine whether the future president should sign the law restoring trade on Sunday. The results of the survey showed that Poles are divided almost equally on this issue. 42 percent of those surveyed believe that trade should be restored on Sunday; 49 percent of those surveyed are against it, and 8 percent have no opinion on it.
Among those determined to vote for Rafał Trzaskowski, the majority is in favour of restoring trade on Sunday (62% for yes and 30% for them). Among the voters of Karol Nawrocki there is opposition to this issue (78% for them and 19% for them), as in the group of people declaring support for Sławomir Mentzen (59 percent for them, 38 percent for them). However, the electorate of Szymon Hołownia is most enthusiastic of all about the thought of restoring trade on Sunday (70 percent on such, and only 26 percent on them).
When examining responses according to organization preferences, they can be seen to coincide with results that take into account declared support for a peculiar presidential candidate. Among the voters of Law and Justice prevails opposition to the return of trade on Sunday (73 percent for them, and 21% for them), as among those who declare voting for the Confederation (58 percent for them, 39 percent for them) – according to a survey for the ZET Radio.
The situation is different among voters of the Civic Coalition, where the majority would like the future president to sign a bill reopening all stores on Sunday (64 percent yes and 27 percent on them). On the another hand, supporters of the 3rd Way – i.e. Poland 2050 of Szymon Holownia and PSL – are clearly divided on this issue, almost equally (47 percent for yes and 51 percent for no).
In turn, the electorate of the fresh Left most of the time (63%) is compatible that a law should be adopted to reconstruct trade on Sunday. 30% of left-wing voters disagree – according to a poll conducted for ZET Radio. The remaining percentages in the electorate groups of individual parties and candidates for president are those who have not decided to answer: I do not know / it is hard to say.
The survey was carried out by Opana24 on a typical example of 1002 Poles aged 18 and more from 2 to 6 April 2025. The percentages were rounded to full. (PAP)
