South Sudan: 73 people killed in attack on gold mine

At least 73 people were killed and 25 were injured as a consequence of an attack on a gold mine in South Sudan. The perpetrators were not established – the AFP agency informed on Monday.

According to the South Sudanese authorities, the attack took place last weekend in the Khor Kaltan region, located about 70 km south of the state capital - Juba. "The investigation is to find the identity and motives of the attackers," said AFP vice president of Sudan James Wani Igga.

The number of casualties may be higher due to the fact that local safety forces are inactive in advancement to identify the dead.
