At least 15 people died and 23 were injured as a consequence of an attack on the city of Lagawa, in the state of West Kordofan in the south of Sudan, which occurred on Monday, reported Sudanese medical services, as quoted by the AFP agency.
The Paramilitary fast Support Force (RSF), which controls the region, accused the Sudanese Government Armed Forces of carrying out the attack – adding that the army is campaigning “systematic bombings of hospitals, markets and residential districts in the cities of Kordofan and Darfur”.
The Kordofan region, rich in gold and oil and strategically crucial for the control of the country, is now 1 of the places where interior conflict is taking place in Sudan.
The civilian war in this country has been going on since April 2023. It broke out as a consequence of a power conflict between 2 commanders – an army faithful to the government and rebels from the fast Support Force (RSF). According to UN data, military action forced any 14 million people to leave homes. The organization identifies the ongoing situation as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.
