The strongest attack on Israel since the war began

Hezbollah announced the launch of a fresh phase of confrontation with Israel, giving the operation the codename “The Withered Grains”. More than 1 100 rockets were launched from Lebanon toward the northern regions of Israel. According to Israeli media, there are indications that the fire could have been coordinated with Iran. As reported, it was the most serious rocket attack since the outbreak of the current conflict.

The missiles were aimed primarily at the area of Haifa and Galilee. However, the emergency sirens besides spread in another parts of the country, including Jerusalem and Ashdoda. Records of fires caused by falling shrapnel of captured rockets began to circulate online. As a consequence of events, 2 people were injured and transported to the hospital, and 4 more needed medical assistance on site.

At the same time, information about the possible threat of another rocket attack, this time from Iran's territory, appeared. However, the Israeli side reported that in this case too, all missiles were intercepted by air defence systems.

The Israeli army has stated that in consequence to the fire, it conducts parallel actions: defensive systems capture incoming rockets, and air forces attack Hezbollah's launchers and infrastructure. Shortly thereafter, information about the shelling of the confederate suburb of Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon, appeared.

The Israeli army’s message stressed that action against Hezbollah would continue. According to the army, this organization decided to join the conflict, acting with the support of the authorities in Tehran.

One high-ranking Israeli authoritative estimated that the next day could be of crucial importance for further military action in Lebanon. Another origin suggested the anticipation of a crucial extension of military operations, without giving details.
