Access to clean water in Gaza has been highly hard for the last six months: as many as 96% of families felt its shortcomings or feared its availability. War action has led to the demolition of distribution networks, so direct water supply to evacuation centres or homes is impossible. The only solution is to supply water with barrels.
The Polish Humanitarian Action supports individuals internally displaced in Gaza, helping them to regain access to clean, safe to usage water.
The PAH task in the Gaza Strip deals with the provision of water for about 88,844 people internally displaced seeking shelter in 35 emergency escape centers (DESs) which are managed by UNRWA. The water supplied is tested by 2 laboratory technicians to guarantee compliance with bacteriological safety standards. The technicians receive a wage for their work, which will contribute to improving the life situation of their families.
Actions will be closely monitored and reviewed to supply top quality humanitarian assistance in line with humanitarian standards.
Project actions shall include:
- Supply of water with barrels to 35 evacuation centres managed by UNRWA
- Testing of water supply by 2 laboratory technicians
The aim of the task is to improve surviving conditions, reduce wellness risks and guarantee the safety, dignity and protection of those affected by the Gaza War, in peculiar women, children and people with disabilities.
In total, aid will scope about 88,844 people.
