The Sejm of the Republic of Poland rejected by majority the bill depenating abortion killing unborn children. Thanks to the exceeding political divisions of the attitude of the Members, the unequivocal voice of the Church and the extraordinary mobilisation of society, the statutory assassination of the constitutionally guaranteed protection of life (Article 38 of the Constitution), the strengthened settled case-law of the Constitutional Court, and the resultant from the natural, inalienable and inviolable dignity of man (Article 30 of the Constitution).
Every failure of abortion projects strengthens the process of raising the level of legal protection of life in Poland, aiming at ensuring equal legal protection of life for all child, both before and after birth. besides at the level of criminal law.
The consequence of today's vote should be read first of all as Poland's stand on the side of the civilization of life, which orders political power to stand on the side of the weakest and most in need. It is besides a further step towards fulfilling the work contained in the UN Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which reminds us that "a child, due to his physical and intellectual immaturity, needs peculiar care and care, including adequate legal protection, both before and after birth." In this way, the legal sanction given by the law constitutes the basic, human-wide moral rule "Don't kill!" is perfect.
At the same time, it must not be forgotten that the Polish Sejm is inactive working on other, contrary to the Constitution of Poland's abortion projects which hit the above principles and whose enactment would inevitably lead to the death of thousands of children, the indescribable individual tragedies of many citizens of our State and the moral collapse of the Nation, not to mention the deepening of already dramatic demographic collapse of Poland.
We so call on the drafters, Members and Senators to retreat these projects or reject them immediately in a vote, and on the president of the Republic of Poland to veto any bill that would lead to a simplification in the standard of protection of life in Poland.
We besides ask the rulers, the parliamentary majority and all Members and Senators of the Republic, to focus legislative efforts and state policies not on abortion killing of children, but on effective, full, legal protection of life and a fair, systemic fulfilment of the constitutional work contained in Article 71 of the Basic Act, according to which "family in financial and social difficulties, in peculiar multi-children and incomplete, have the right to peculiar assistance from public authorities", and "the parent before and after the birth of the kid is entitled to peculiar assistance from public authorities".
