The Helsing arms company takes over the supplier of autonomous submarines. An Australian maritime technology specialist, Blue Ocean, who develops and operates autonomous submarines (AUV), a Munich based company, founded in 2021, announced this Wednesday. Helsing intends to combine Blue Ocean equipment and production capabilities with his own artificial intelligence (AI).
Helsing further explained that they intend to jointly accelerate the improvement and mass production of autonomous submarine protection platforms. This will strengthen the defence capacity of democratic states, for example in the North Atlantic or another maritime areas of Australia, United Kingdom and USA.
Helsing did not uncover the acquisition price. The company spokesperson reported that the Australian authorities' approval is expected within 4 months. According to Helsing, Blue Ocean is presently owned by the founders and employees of the company and has offices in the UK and Australia.
In September, Helsing announced that he was developing an unmanned combat aircraft that would be ready for serial production in 4 years. Startup took over in the summertime of the Swabian maker of light aircraft Grob Aircraft, aiming to not only supply software and artificial intelligence to the defence industry, but besides to build their own aircraft.
