The following is the position of over 80 organisations Coalition for the Salvation of the Polish School on activities undertaken by the Ministry of National Education, headed by Minister Barbara Nowacka.
Warsaw, 25 March 2025.
VIEW
on the education policy pursued by the Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka, in the context of the removal from schools of the subject of education to household life and the introduction of a different sex education model in wellness education
Coalition for the Salvation of the Polish School does not accept the political and ideological actions of the Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka, striking students, the welfare of families and the future of the Polish State, and not respecting the hierarchy of sources of law and neglecting investigation and the opinion of parents on education and upbringing of children.
We consider it unacceptable to remove from schools the subject of “childing for life in the family” and replace it as part of a wellness education with a permissive sexual education. This action exhausts all the allegations of incompetence and negligence mentioned above, taking distant the social and political credibility of education authorities.
Hitting the Goods of Students and Familieshas been documented in the opinions of professionals in the fields of pedagogy, psychology, medicine and related fields, submitted in public consultation on draft regulations introducing wellness education into the curriculum and removing education classes for household life. We are talking, among others, about the "Notes to the draft regulations of the Minister of Education concerning the liquidation of education for household life and the introduction of wellness education in schools" Coalition for the Salvation of the Polish School, "The expert opinion of the Institute of Integrated Prevention on the draft regulation of the Minister of Education of 29 October 2024 concerning the repeal of the class, "Bringing up for life in the family" and implementation of the fresh subject
, “Health Education” (...), or “The State of Catholic Medical Associations to effort to implement systemic sexual depravity of children in Polish schools”. These papers respect sex education as a very harmful treatment in an isolated way erstwhile educating children and young people to adult life, including household life. Unfortunately, only a tiny part of the critical and substantive comments were taken into account by the task promoters.
Impact on the future of the Polish Stateis linked to the demographic crisis and a scope of problems arising from the irreplaceability of generations. The fight against the crisis requires an intensive family-friendly policy, including pro-family and pro-natalist education. The replacement of education for household life with sexual education, depreciating household and its procreation function, strikes the Polish state's right.
Non-respect of the hierarchy of lawsconcerns the plan of regulations introducing a fresh sex education model into the curriculum for general education. This model is contrary to Article 18 of the Polish Constitution, which states that
"Marriage as a union between a female and a man, family, motherhood and parenthood are protected and cared for by the Republic of Poland". The conflict besides concerns the legislative delegation. Regulations do not supply information on the principles of conscious and liable parenthood and the value of prenatal life, as required by Article 4(1) of the Act of 7 January 1993 on household Planning, Protection of Human Fetals and Conditions of Admissibility of Abortion. Moreover, fresh programming content depreciates the value of a lasting, unchangeable matrimony and household in social life.
Discretion of researchIt is shown in the failure to take account of the analysis and assessment of the current state of sexual education in Poland. The selection of content by the authors of the programme basis corresponds to the subject popular in another countries' programmes, with the exception of both cultural differences and the social consequences of the programmes. Authors do not usage global investigation and comparative statistic on venereal diseases or the stableness of household life. They scope from Polish investigation in the field of prevention of children and youth problems, including those conducted by the Educational investigation Institute in 2014-2015 and those published by the Institute of Integrated Prevention. They leave out the basic study on the survey of the 2015 Educational investigation Institute, which is inactive a serious diagnosis of education classes for household life, as well as the needs of parents and youth themselves in the area of supporting psychosexual development1.
Disrespect of parents’ opinionsis manifested in the approach of the Minister of Education to many people united in fresh months, in many cities of Poland, in protests and demonstrations under the common slogan “YAK for education, NO for depravity!” and massingly sending opposition to the Ministry of National Education to the implemented permissive sexual education. The reluctance of the MEN to have a substantive discussion with people who are opposed to change, and even to effort to disqualify them publicly, reveals both the deficiency of adherence to democratic principles in the hotel and the deficiency of good morals.
In this situation, having exhausted numerous, factual arguments which did not lead to agreement with representatives of the Ministry of Education, The Coalition for the Salvation of the Polish School, which brings together more than 80 NGOs, considers illegal ministerial regulations, introducing to the basic programming a model of permissive sex education in place of upbringing classes for household life. These regulations violate the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, conflict with the legislative delegation, and, above all, bring to schools content harmful to children, families and the full Nation.
