The Sulejowski flood will be "closed". shortly there will be a major renovation
On Monday, 28 July, an agreement was signed for preliminary documentation work to revitalize the Sulejowski Basin.
The agreement concerns the implementation of the documentation of the pre-project feasibility survey of the water tank revitalization program Zalew Sulejowski, which has been operating for 51 years and has never received a major renovation. Revitalisation is needed
- said Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak during a press conference in Smardzewice, as quoted by the Local Government Portal. The renovation, which will start next year, will cover hydrotechnical equipment, tank cleaning and the construction of floats, i.e. constructions that let fish to cross to the another side of the jams. This is not only about Zalew Sulejowski, but besides about Jaza Przustówka in Tomaszów Mazowiecki. As we read on the web page natomaszow.pl, "the deficiency of gulf in the reservoir dam led to crucial changes in the ichthiofauna of Pilica and its tributaries, which contributed to the decline of the fish population, specified as eel or bream".

The Sulejowski flood will undergo renovation. What changes will happen?
Sulejowski's flood had needed renovation for a long time, so its revitalization could take respective years. The most crucial step is to flush the water to clear the bottom and remove sediments, which systematically reduced the depth of the tank. Another crucial point will be to reconstruct the retention of the tank and increase its usability. In turn, the water equipment and dams located there will undergo thorough modernisation to improve flood safety. In the end, the beach infrastructure and sailing marina will be rebuilt.
At the Ministry of Infrastructure, we have had talks with the Polish Waters for a long time to plan the modernization of the Sulejowski Basin, which is necessary. We allocate about PLN 200 million to this, of which about PLN 120 million will come from EU funds - the Fenix programme
- explained Dariusz Klimczak. According to the first plans, the main work is to be completed by 2029, but the improvement of recreational infrastructure may take up to 2033.
