216 players from 30 units, colleges and military institutions fought in the Uniform Service Championships in the Combat Sports for the Rector's Cup of the Academy of Land Forces in Wrocław. In addition to the army, police officers, State Protection Service, Customs and taxation Service, Prison Service and Railway Protection Service besides checked their skills on the mat and in the ring.

The event allowed to check out players practicing 4 types of martial arts: judo, kick-boxing, Brazilian ju-jitsu and wrestling. – With each consecutive championship the interest is increasing. There are very different people to compete. They are both amateurs training a given discipline, as well as professionals, athletes who have large success. There have been quite a few volunteers this time. We have established 150 seats, more than 100 players applied for – said Colonel Marek Kociuba, head of the Department of Physical Education and athletics on Land Army Academy.

As the officer points out, combat is inactive 1 of the most crucial elements of training a soldier. On AWL, she is dedicated to about 40% of the time of sports activities. There are 2 sports sections of combat: the combat section in close contact and the Judo section.

RECLAMA

Despite advanced technology on the battlefield, a soldier must be prepared to face in close contact, including in a situation of apparent peace, erstwhile there is no regular war, there are hybrid threats. She showed it even situation with attempts by illegal immigrants to push the Polish border, trying to get into our country from Belarus. The martial arts, specified as ju-jitsu or Ju-jitsu, are surely a complement to the soldier's skill, although it should be remembered that the particularity of fighting even in combat conditions differs considerably from that of the players trained in the ringing or on the mat.

– The fighting strategy in close contact is based primarily on firearms (carbine, gun). A soldier in full care and with a weapon will not be able to perform, for example, advanced kicks. Military training so includes elements specified as close scope shooting and impacting with weapons, but besides boxing techniques, ju-jitsu or judo are very useful and utilized in combat training, specified as punches, low kicks or levers," explains Colonel Maciej Kupryjanczyk, lecturer at the Academy of Land Forces, leader of the combat squad in close contact and specialist shooting training, initiator of combat sports in AWL, thanks to which the fight in close contact was widespread in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. And he points out that training soldiers who besides practice individually is, of course, a bonus for them. It allows to test your skills, intellectual and physical opposition and to test yourself in confrontation with your opponent in the ringing or on the mat.

The players are wearing shorts. – The level of the competition is very advanced and I am glad to participate. It's surely a large plus that quite a few people in uniform train. This cognition and skills are invaluable and can surely be useful to us straight at work – the police officer comments.
