Meeting of representatives of the technological community with the Prime Minister of Poland

On 9 December, Prime Minister Donald Tusk met representatives of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools of Poland and the Polish Academy of Sciences. The University of Warsaw was represented by Rector Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak and prof. Zygmunt Lalak.

The gathering was attended by representatives of the academic community – university Rectors, president of the Polish Academy of Sciences Prof. Marek Konarzewski, president of the Main Council of discipline and Higher Education Prof. Marcin Pałys and president of the Management Board of the Foundation for Polish discipline Prof. Krzysztof Pyrć.

Participants presented the most crucial problems of Polish science, specified as insufficient resources for investigation and the functioning of universities, the request to amend public procurement regulations, and the request to support academic exchange, including enabling candidates from abroad to survey in Poland. The proposals besides included the anticipation of raising iron capital as a mechanics for financial support of the university.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk, together with Marshal of the legislature of Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska and Minister of discipline and Higher Education Dr. Marcin Kulasek, openly accepted the proposals presented, while recommending greater engagement of Polish universities in matters concerning national defence and wellness care activities. The Prime Minister announced the formation of a squad within the Council of Ministers, which will focus on intensifying cooperation with the academic community, breaking the interministerial barriers.
