On 17–18 January, Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico visited the US. On the first day in Washington, D.C., he signed with American energy secretary Chris Wright an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) on the cooperation of both states in the civilian atomic field. It creates a framework for the implementation of projects by US entities in Slovakia, in peculiar the construction of a fresh block (1200 MW) in the atomic power station (EJ) Bohunice by Westinghouse, as well as the installation of tiny modular reactors (SMR).
