President Karol Nawrocki signed an amendment to the athletics Act, which excludes sports facilities – specified as fields, courts, treadmills, ice rinks or skateparks – from sound standards if utilized for sports or recreational purposes.
The fresh provision recognises sports activity as a "wide usage of the environment", which means that sound from training, classes or professions will not be subject to acoustic restrictions.
The amendment was prepared after the intervention of the courts, which ordered the limitation of hours of usage of the "Orlik" fields in respective cities due to complaints from residents. The change is intended to prevent akin decisions and to let the free usage of sports facilities.
All Members (435) voted unanimously in favour of the amendment.
