President Karol Nawrocki met with Dariusz Barski on Monday, who, according to the head of state, "was unlawfully and forcefully deprived by the government of the ability to execute functions" of the national prosecutor. "This is immeasurable injustice and an attack on the constitutional foundations of the state system" - we read in the entry of the President's Chancellery.

The President's office noted in Monday's entry that until the appeal of the national prosecutor The consent of the head of state is required. Conflict concerning ultimate authorities of the Polish prosecution is linked to the change in the management of the National Prosecutor's Office in 2024. On January 12, 2024, then Minister of Justice, lawyer General Adam Bodnar gave Barski, acting as National Prosecutor, a paper stating that his reinstatement to work from the state of remainder "was accomplished in breach of the existing rules and has no legal effect".
Barski, whom in this case president Andrzej Duda then supported, was a close associate of the erstwhile head of MS, lawyer General Zbigniew Ziobry, who reinstated Barski on 16 February 2022. Barski and Ziobro are besides known on a private level.
