In 2021, the industry's “Breaking Defense” publication reported that the Pentagon was close to revealing information about supersecret space weapons and demonstrating its capabilities to possible opponents, China and Russia. There was this argument that there was no point in keeping it so secret, due to the fact that then the deterrent effect does not exist.
