South Korean Constitutional Court reiterated the decision to impeach the president of Yun Seok-yul country.
The Constitutional Court of South Korea on Friday accepted Parliament's motion to impeach the President, which de facto means removing Yun Seok-yeola from power.
The conviction was filed 111 days after the parliament applied for removal of the head of state and 38 days after the court's trial was concluded. This is the longest case of the kind where the case was dealt with before the judgement was given. The final decision to remove erstwhile South Korean president Park Geun-hye from power in 2016 was so taken 11 days after the end of the debate, and it took 14 days to prepare the decision on president Roh Moo-hyun in 2004. Yoon Seok-yeol became the second president after Park Geun-hye, who was removed from power through impeachment.
South Korea is now facing an early election, the fresh president is to be elected in sixty days, which is by June 3. Until then, Prime Minister Han Deok-soo will proceed to service as head of state.
In the case of early elections, it can be expected that the governing civilian Force organization will be at a disadvantage. However, unlike the situation with Park Geun-hye in 2017, this time the right-wing conservative camp is more mobilized, so conservatives can effort to overcome the negative attitude to impeachment and win centrists and undecided voters. Conservatives are expected to announce their candidacy along with Labour Minister Kim Moon-soo, Seoul mayor Oh Se-hoon, Daegu mayor Hong Joong-pyo, erstwhile Han Dong-hoon Justice Minister, Ahn Cheol-soo typical and erstwhile Yoo Seung-min representative.
The United Democratic Party, based on the support of the public, which opposes an exceptional and advocates impeachment, prepares for “revenge” for failure in the presidential election 3 years ago and seeks to change power “at all costs”. The organization leader Lee Jae-myung leads in various public opinion polls, well ahead of the candidates from the ruling camp.
