Celebration of the Polish Army is organized throughout the country. The expression of strength and unity, the joy of the large triumph defends Poland in 1920. For many, too, it is simply a time of contemplation erstwhile they revive the memories of those who have gone on eternal watch. This is what “Soldier memory” is, an action of military visitors and taking care of graves, monuments and memorial sites.
On 15 August in Warsaw at noon, the most crucial people in the country together with the army pay tribute to the heroes during the solemn change of the honorary post before the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It is simply a permanent point of celebration of the Polish Army vacation preceding the spectacular defilade. It attracts crowds of residents of the capital to Piłsudski Square. At the same time, distant from camera lights, mostly in a very intimate group, soldiers across Poland pay tribute to their local heroes as part of the "Soldier memory" action.
The script of actions in individual units is very similar. usually a fewer days before the celebrations on August 15, soldiers' delegations head for cemeteries and memorials. They organize graves of their comrades and large Poles. They lay flowers, light candles. In this way, a group of soldiers from the Military Recruitment Centre in Rzeszów late commemorated their late colleague Marek Dziak on the 30th anniversary of his death. They were accompanied by St. She's crazy with her family. The Petty Officer died while serving under the United Nations PKW UNPROFOR in present-day Croatia.
– The thought of the action "Soldier memory" is to keep order in the graves and to remind about those who are no longer with us," stressed Fr Daria Lubianek, Head of the Education Section in the Military Gendarmerie Division in Elbląg. – all year we visit graves of deceased MPs from our branch around various holidays, as well as on the occasion of the circular anniversary of death. Last year it was 10 years since my colleague Kamil Igras left us. In addition to visiting graves, we sometimes visit close friends of ours – Lubianek adds and points out that in military structures the thought of "Soldier Memory" is connected with the activities of educational sections, which are liable for cultivating tradition and promoting affirmative behaviour.
But "Soldier's memory" is more than a business journey and candles. We visit graves in Prabuty, Braniewo and Elbląg. It can be said that for us it is fundamentally a tradition. We remember due to the fact that we want to, not due to the fact that we have to. erstwhile the time comes, we simply set a convenient deadline and go to the graves. We don't take it officially, no 1 orders us to do anything. We remember due to the fact that it's the right thing to do due to the fact that we miss what was. This is an expression of respect for our colleagues and their families – the OŻW spokeswoman in Elbląg.
The same is actual of the “Soldier Memory” in many another units throughout the country. Just before the Holy Polish Army, soldiers of the 1st Pomeranian Logistics Brigade ordered national memorial sites, cemeteries and graves of the deceased for their freedom of homeland. Soldiers of the 1st Command and safety Battalion carried out cleaning work at the parish cemetery in Bydgoszcz, and a delegation of the Police Training Centre of the Land Forces in Orzysz visited the resting places of the soldiers who fought and died in their garrison.
At the same time, soldiers of the 10th Opole Logistics Brigade besides took care of memorial sites in respective cemeteries. As they emphasize, the event on the occasion of the Polish Army is simply a unique initiative for them, thanks to which they cherish the memory of heroes. – After all, the communicative is not only written in books – they say.
