"Space", "voices", "drone". These are just any of the proposals that have the chance to become the Word of the Year 2025. A vote for the most characteristic of the last 12 months has begun. By 31 December each can make their own proposal or choose from the words and expressions prepared by the organizers.

The plebiscite Word of the Year is organized by the Institute of Polish Language University and the Foundation of Polish Language. The competition for the most crucial word of the last 12 months consists of an online vote and the selection of a linguist chapter.

The vote can be held by 31 December at 23.59 p.m. at: https://sloworoku.uw.edu.pl/.

On the plebiscite website there are 21 words to choose from, whose comparative frequency was importantly higher in the Polish press in 2025 than in the last fewer years. Among the proposals for words this year are "astronaut", "dron", "voices", "space", "habitation", "relationship", "court".

The participants of the plebiscite can give their vote in 2 ways – by choosing a word or expression from the list made available by the organizers or by submitting their own proposal (a single or two-word lexical unit).

Participants in the plebiscite can besides propose a separate student word, most crucial for the academic community.

The jury will not take into account names, names, local names or another names, insulting words, elements of hatred speech or hatred campaign.
