The price for foreigners is to be calculated by the Minister of Finance. This is the arithmetic average of prices in Austria, Czech Republic and Poland. In Slovakia, about 1.5 euros must be paid for a litre of diesel. The government besides set a financial limit – 1 vehicle can be refueled for a maximum of 400 euros. Self-service petrol stations or those incapable to follow the fresh rules will gotta stay closed.

At the same time, the government decided to temporarily restrict the export of diesel from Slovakia. This measurement concerns both the European Union and those outside it. Only diesel in the tank can be exported abroad from Slovakia.

The fresh regulations will become effective as shortly as the authoritative diary is published, as Prime Minister Robert Fica said will be on Thursday. The rules are to apply for 30 days. According to government documents, regulation has been undertaken to stabilise the fuel marketplace in order to supply adequate diesel for the home marketplace and to prevent its shortages.
