Śląskie: Persons belonging to a gang trafficking in human beings were detained

The police and border guards have broken up a human trafficking crime group. Uniforms detained 9 people – 3 Georgian citizens and 6 Poles, among whom are 2 border guards.

According to investigators, the foreigners recruited by this gang were forced into forced labor.

According to the findings of the investigation, the detainees benefited greatly from human trafficking and from facilitating and enabling foreigners to stay in Poland. Foreigners were recruited at home and abroad under the appearance of employment in various, interrelated transport companies.

"In addition, they were misled as regards time and working conditions and the wellness care they received. In addition, the critical position of these people was exploited, forcing them to do forced labour. This was due to the deficiency of funds and ignorance of the Polish language. Foreigners were taken distant from passports and another documents, as well as their due wages" - described the police.

Due to deficiency of money and documents, the gang victim could not change their jobs or return to their country. In specified a situation, citizens of Azerbaijan, Georgia, India, Ukraine or Belarus were included. The company where they worked employed about 150 people.
