The effects of the restoration of the lower retirement age are increasing
For pensioners, workers and the economy as a whole, the effects of restoring the lower retirement age are becoming increasingly severe. It was already known from the beginning that this decision would have negative consequences, but the reasoning prevailed: “It will be something”.
Today, it is clear that "something like this" is changing to "it cannot continue."
Currently pensions are only about half of the average wage. In addition, there is simply a immense gap between the benefits of women and men – resulting, among another things, from women retiring 5 years earlier.
The data speaks for itself:
Average monthly remuneration in the 3rd 4th of 2025: 8 769,08 zł
Pensions:
December 2022 – Men: 3,628,09 zł; women: 2 468,43 zł
December 2023 – men: 4 251,56 zł; women: 2 920.98 zł
October 2025 – Men: 4 818.02 zł; women: 3 321.12 zł
Average pension (total) PLN 4 045.20 gross.
No government can balance these differences due to the fact that the only real solution is increasing retirement age – and no political group will decide to do so.
More and more people search help
In the face of the worsening financial situation, more and more seniors are increasing postpones retirementAnd any quit Thirteens and Fourteensto avoid paying income taxation on additional earnings from work. This is simply a clear alarm signal for you.
Time for action
The government should introduce strong incentives for longer working life, both financial and systemic. Otherwise the cost of social welfare will emergence rapidly and many pensioners may stay evicted from housing, forced to quit treatment is other basic needs.
Lack of firm action can lead to serious social and financial consequencesthat everyone will feel – not just pensioners.
