Lyndon B. Johnson had small and no sleep. In the mediate of the night he called the Emergency area with questions about the situation in Vietnam – in a war he did not begin, but could not end. He asked how many planes came back from the mission and if there were any casualties. He feared the US would provoke the USSR or China.
