The words of president Karol Nawrocki on "defence of the western border of the Republic" provoked the rage of government politicians. Prime Minister Donald Tusk first referred to the message that was made during the celebration of the Wielkopolska Uprising. Later, the president commented on the head of the MFA Radosław Sikorski, who besides utilized an old photograph of Nawrocki – inactive as manager of the planet War II Museum – in Russia.

On Saturday, December 27, president Karol Nawrocki took part in the celebration of the 107th anniversary of the Wielkopolska Uprising in Poznań. During his speech, the head of the state spoke words that seemed shocking to some. "Poland's national community is open to the West but besides ready to defend the western border of the Republic of Poland," Nawrocki said.

The message sparked a violent reaction by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who referred to her in harsh words. The Head of Government assessed that there was a dispute between the "anti-European block" and its coalition as "pro-European". In summary, Tusk presented a zero-one situation – "East or West".

Tusk's words were rather strong, but it turned out that this was not the tallness of the escalation of the last dispute between government representatives and the president. At 1 point, the abroad Minister Radosław Sikorski joined the exchange.

The head of the Ministry of abroad Affairs made available on social media a group photograph of 2018, which shows Karol Nawrocki. The photograph was taken during the visit of Nawrocki – then manager of the Museum of the Second planet War in Gdańsk – at the Museum of the large Patriotic War in Moscow.
