The head of the MFA appeared on Radio 3 and admitted that the dispute over officer and ambassadorial nominations between the Presidential Palace and the government should not take place.
– Would it happen to you that the president of Poland will not sign an officer nomination for young cadets? It would come to your head that 3 Polish ambassadors are now under bombs – risking not in any kibolian setups – but real bombs are flying on them? – he asked the leader Renata Grochal and mentioned these ambassadors.
Sikorski does not forgive the president for his ambassadorial nomination: "Ask Nawrocki"
– Grzegorz Gavin, United arabian Emirates, professional diplomat. Marcin Wilczek in Tehran, a professional diplomat. Colonel Łukasiewicz in Kiev, formerly Ambassador to Afghanistan, Colonel of the Polish Army. And not sign their ambassadorial nominations? due to the fact that what? – he added. erstwhile the writer asked, "Well, that's what," Sikorski said:
– Not to me, ask Navrocki.
Representatives of the Presidential Palace convince that they have made an "offer" in this substance to the head of the MFA and are waiting for responses. So Sikorski commented. "These are the offers that trust on the president not doing his constitutional duties, but blackmailing me: "I will not sign you any ambassador unless you include my candidates." This is blackmail. due to the fact that he wants to run the MFA staff policy. I'm liable for the MFA staff before the Sejm. It cannot be that I have imposed people for whom individual else is not responsible," said the minister.
And he mentioned that "Nawrocks want their ambassador to Washington." According to media speculation, it is to be Marek Magierowski. I'm not talking about names. Again, I ask you to sign the nomination to Polish diplomats who hazard their lives for Poland and Poles in war zones – he appealed.
The competition for nominations started back in Duda's day...
As we wrote in NaTemat.pl, the dispute between the President's Chancellery and the Ministry of abroad Affairs has been increasing since March 2024. At the time, MFA chief Radosław Sikorski announced the completion of the mission of more than 50 ambassadors and withdrew any of the candidatures submitted by the erstwhile management of the ministry.
In response, Andrzej Duda announced that no Polish ambassador would be called or cancelled without his signature. The deficiency of agreement made the president refuse to nominate successors to the cancelled ambassadors. Charles Nawrocki took a akin attitude in this regard.
As a result, any diplomatic missions remained without ambassadors and the responsibilities of chargé d’affaires, i.e. temporary heads of mission who do not have the ambassador's power of attorney, due to the fact that they were not formally approved by the President.
