A conference attended, among others, by the Minister of Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak was held at the border crossing of Połówka-Pieszczatka. The Polish minister was accompanied by the head of the German Ministry of Interior Alexander Dobrindt.
"The impact of border defence is 97-98 percent."
Siemoniak noted that according to estimates, thanks to the service of soldiers (about 11,000), physical safety and electronic barrier (it has been completed in fresh days), the effectiveness of defending our borders reaches 97-98 percent. 2.6 million PLN has already been allocated for this.
– We are doing everything to halt this illegal migration here, so that these people do not enter Poland and another countries further," said Tomasz Siemoniak. The Minister besides recalled the restored controls on playing with Germany and Lithuania.
– Controls at the Polish-Lithuanian border proved peculiarly effective, due to the fact that migrants who did not cross the Polish-Belarusian border, via Latvia and Lithuania, headed to Poland – he pointed out.
– In our view, the German controls carried out by Germany, and the Polish controls, service to fight illegal migration, but we are convinced that 1 of the EU's top values is freedom of travel, that is, the Schengen area, so if the German side decides at any point that it gives up these controls, our Prime Minister Donald Tusk said, we will not control this border either," announced the head of the Ministry of abroad Affairs.
At the same time, he added that "all forms of border control, including temporary suspension of the right to asylum, buffer region and besides temporary border checks will be extended".
Alexander Dobrindt, in turn, thanked for Poland's commitment and effectiveness on this issue. "What Poland does here, at the borders of the European Union with Belarus, is awesome to halt illegal migration," German politician said.
