Prohibition of Trade on Sundays and holidays
The ban on trade on Sundays and holidays has been in force in Poland since 2018. It covers most commercial establishments and employees employed under a contract of employment cannot execute trade-related obligations on those days. However, the Act provides for exceptions – the prohibition does not apply to shops where the sale is carried out by the owner personally, as well as to any establishments specified as fuel stations, cinemas, restaurants or confectionery.
Penalties for violation of the prohibition
Entrepreneurs who break the rules can be fined and, in the event of persistent violation of the ban, even punishment for restrictions on freedom. It is so worth making certain that the store you choose is open before going shopping.
