Mrs. Anna's problems began with a badly filled box in the motion. erstwhile asked if any of her household members worked abroad, she denied it. She was unaware that the strategy would besides recognise her ex-husband, a Belgian citizen who has lived and worked abroad for years.
RECLAMA
Why the discrepancy? According to o2.pl, "Belgian courts consider that children should stay in Belgium under the care of their father, while those in spite of judgement live in Poland, and Polish courts decided that they should stay with their mother".

Two benefits cannot be collected. That's what the rules say.
Under EU social safety coordination rules, household benefits cannot be collected simultaneously in 2 countries. Meanwhile, Mrs. Anna's children's father, although not taking care of them, was receiving akin support in Belgium. It was adequate for Polish institutions to challenge women's right to benefits already received.
As the glossielkopolski.pl portal relates, Ms Anna has been trying to explain the substance for years. She filed appeals, documents, correspondence with offices. However, the dispute lasted a long time, and the final was only in February 2025. The decision was clear - the female must give the benefit along with the accrued interest. In practice, this means paying almost PLN 14 thousand.
Polish-Belgian dispute
As a female says, for a single parent raising 2 children, it's an unattainable sum. Furthermore, Mrs Anna cannot presently work in her profession, she claims, due to the legal complications arising from the judgments of the Belgian courts, which felt that children should be with their father. "In Poland it was decided otherwise, the children are with me, but I can't legally take the job, due to the fact that I'm in danger of being stopped," he says in an interview with "Głos Wielkopolski".
The deficiency of a permanent income makes Mrs. Anna unaccounted for for basic fees, including rent. The educational benefit was the only unchangeable origin of income for her and her children. After his withdrawal, the female was on the verge of eviction. - Rent stops being paid on time. I'm afraid they'll be knocking on the door shortly to terminate the lease," says the woman.
The Authority shall not retreat from its decision
The Wielkopolska Provincial Office maintains that the female "disclosed" information that influenced the granting of the benefit. The Ministry does not comment on the case, covering itself with individual data protection regulations.
