Hundreds of thousands of young Ukrainians leave the country. Zelenski's fresh law triggered mass exodus to Poland

Since the end of August, nearly 100,000 men of draft age have left Ukraine – according to data from the Polish Border Guard. The wave of departures is the consequence of the decision of president Volodymyr Zelenski, who relaxed the rules on leaving the country for young citizens. The changes were intended to aid stabilise the collection system, but in practice caused mass migration to the European Union countries.
