The Sejm appointed Mariusz Haladyj as the fresh president of the ultimate Audit Chamber. The decision came after PiS withdrew the competitive candidacy of Tadeusz Dziuba just before the vote.

The word of office of the current president of NIK, Marian Banasia, expired on 30 August. 2 candidatures were initially submitted to his successor - Dziuba by the PiS club and Haladyj by the talker of the Sejm Simon Holovnia (Poland 2050), who consulted representatives of the government.

A fresh imagination for state control

On Monday, both candidates were publically interviewed by parliamentarians, experts and representatives of social organizations. Haladyj stressed that NIK should be a guardian of public finances and an auditor of the state for a systemic perspective.

He pointed out that the control of the NIK is now focused on uncovering a very formal irregularity. In his opinion, the purpose, efficiency, efficiency or savings should be examined. "The measurement of effectiveness of the ultimate Audit Chamber should be effectiveness in detecting serious abuses, and on the another hand specified a change in the functioning of public institutions so that the citizen feels these changes in everyday life" - said Haladyj.

Withdrawal of the PiS candidacy

Just before the vote, PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński informed about the withdrawal of the candidacy of the Hole. "After talking to Tadeusz Dziuba, a longtime NIK employee, a well-deserved political activist, I was authorized to retreat his candidacy" - emphasised Kaczyński.

Haladyj besides advocated the usage of artificial intelligence to build an early informing system. Born in 1978, he graduated from the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and the Catholic Administration of the University of Lublin and from postgraduate studies in company law at the University of Warsaw.

Support for Prime Minister Tusk

As of 2019, Haladyj served as president of the lawyer General's Office, which represents the Treasury in the most complicated trials and negotiations. He was appointed by then Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki (PiS).

Prime Minister Donald Tusk (KO) on Tuesday stressed that he highly appreciated the independency of Haladyj throughout his political career. He pointed out that it was thanks to Halady that the charges on the alleged envelope elections could be filed. "(Haladyj) besides showed a very civic attitude erstwhile the alleged lex TVN was attempted" - said Tusk, adding that the D.A.'s remarks allowed the protection of independent media in Poland.
