New independent studies indicate that the popular abortion pill mifepriston (RU-486) is far more dangerous than the national Food and Drug Agency (FDA) has previously claimed. US Secretary of wellness Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced the initiation of an interior investigation into this substance, utilized in most abortions in the United States.

The results of a fresh survey by the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC) forced the national authorities to take action. Secretary of wellness and Social Welfare Robert F. Kennedy Jr., appearing before the legislature Committee on Health, Education, Labour and Paying, said:

"The latest investigation is worrying. It is clear that at least the description [FDA] should be changed.”

Kennedy announced that he had commissioned Marty Makary, the fresh FDA director, to carry out a “complete review” and to prepare a detailed report.

According to the EPPC report, as many as 10.9% of women experienced serious or life-threatening complications after taking mifepriston. That's 22 times what the data in the FDA's authoritative description suggests. Researchers analysed 865,727 cases of pharmacological abortion conducted between 2017 and 2023 – this example was as much as 28 times the full number of participants in all FDA clinical trials.

Catholic organization CatholicVote and more than 30 another pro-life groups sent a letter to the Trump administration, calling for an immediate analysis of the 2000 FDA decision that allowed mifepriston to be marketed.

"We respectfully ask for swift action to defend the rights of the states to defend unborn children, in accordance with your electoral commitment to return the issue of abortion to the states," says the coalition's letter, which calls for "a firm stand on the side of the weak and defenceless."

Decisions on the future of mifepriston will be crucial to protecting the lives of unborn children. Further action by the government will test his real commitment to protecting the weakest.
