The parishes in the Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky, U.S.A., advance organized ceremonies of blessing LGBT couples. The LGBT pastoral centre has long been operating there, and its manager received Francis' individual praises.
The website of St. Paul's Parish in the centre of Lexginton provides that single-sex couples wishing to receive a blessing should contact the parish priest, Fr. Richard Watson. A link to the declaration text is besides attached Fiducia supplicans December 2023, which introduces blessings in the Church for homosexual couples.
As declared Fiducia supplicans It is possible to bless gay and lesbian couples, but only if the blessing is spontaneous. In another words, it cannot be planned: it is simply a situation in which homosexuals abruptly approach a priest and ask him to be blessed.
Around Fiducia supplicans There's quite a few chaos. Many bishops in the planet have found that blessing LGBT couples is contrary to the Tradition of the Church and is simply a scandal. As a result, Francis began to retreat from the provisions Fiducia supplicans. The Pope now says that it is about blessing only individuals surviving in a relationship. But alone Fiducia supplicans He's not talking about individuals, he's talking about couples. Cardinal Fernández late stated that it was a couple, but not a couple as such. Which would mean it's hard to understand. Theoretically, it can be argued that it is simply a couple in the sense of unity of time and place, but in practice this explanation is illogical and abstract. Everybody understands Fiducia supplicans as a consent to the blessing of couples surviving in a single-sex relationship—that's all.
Clearly, this is what the parish priest of St Paul's parish in Lexington understands – and invites homosexuals to apply for blessing.
The Diocese of Lexington was asked journalists about their attitude towards the initiative of St Paul's parish, but the comment was refused.
The parish promoted LGBT unions before. On 1 January, on Facebook, the parish authorities posted an entry in which they announced a “historic event”. 2 women asked the parish priest for his blessing, and he gave it. The parish emphasized that women have been surviving in a civilian union for 22 years. Their blessing had a clear effect of strengthening them in the way of a homosexual “sheep”.
There is simply a LGBT pastoral ministry in the parish. It's run by a man named Stan Zerkowski. Last year Pope Francis personally wrote to Zerkowski, thanking him for his commitment to homosexuals. – Thank you for your service. I pray for you and ask you to pray for me – wrote the Pope.
The same parish in the past besides showed on its website the parent of God with the kid Jesus wrapped in a rainbow flag. A peculiar prayer, entitled “Prayer to Our parent of Pride”, was placed next to it. The word “pride” can besides be translated “pride”.
The chief of Lexington is Bishop John Stowe. Recently, it became public due to the fact that he gave the transsexual approval to service as a diocesan hermit.
