Saudia Deploys New Business Class to Most Visited Island in the World

JEDDAH- Saudia (SV) has started selling its Singapore (SIN) to Bali (DPS) fifth freedom flights, giving travelers a new flat-bed Business Class choice on this popular short route.

The service is part of the airline’s Jeddah (JED) to Singapore to Bali flights, and tickets for the SIN–DPS sector are now available independently, with fares and award redemption options.

Saudia New Flat-Bed Business Class

Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier launched 3 times weekly flights between Jeddah (JED) and Bali (DPS) via Singapore (SIN) in March 2025. Operated by Boeing 787s, the route features a 2-class configuration, including 24 flat-bed seats in Business Class.

Initially, only passengers to or from Jeddah were allowed on board the SIN–DPS leg. Since August 2025, however, approval has been granted for fifth freedom traffic.

Reported by Mainly Miles, this makes Saudia the third flat-bed Business Class operator on the route, alongside Singapore Airlines (SQ) and KLM (KL).

Departures from Singapore at 17:15 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays allow travelers to reach Bali just after 8:00 pm, a workable option if you can leave the office slightly early.

The return flights from Bali are late-night departures (22:15 or 23:45), landing back in Singapore between 00:45 and 02:15, giving a full last day on the island before leaving for the airport.

Business Class Details

Saudia’s Boeing 787 fleet, primarily the 787-10 on this route, offers 24 Collins Aerospace Super Diamond seats in a reverse herringbone 1-2-1 layout.

These fully flat beds come with a 17-inch HD touchscreen, AC and USB-A charging, and Panasonic Avionics satellite Wi-Fi (free for Business Class passengers).

On the shorter 2-hour 50-minute SIN-DPS hop, the flat-bed feature may not be essential, but it adds comfort compared to regional narrow-body products. On the longer JED–SIN sector (9+ hours), the lie-flat design is especially valuable.

For reference, aeroLOPA shows the Business Class seat map of the 787-9, which is nearly identical to the 787-10.

Lounges in Singapore and Bali

At Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), Saudia operates from Terminal 3 and directs premium passengers to the SATS Premier Lounge, which is functional but not among the top lounges at Changi.

In Bali (DPS), Business Class passengers gain access to the Garuda Indonesia Lounge. Reviewers have found it acceptable but largely forgettable, as experienced on previous KLM flights.

Dry Airline Considerations

Saudia is a dry airline, meaning no alcohol is served in any cabin, even in Business Class. This can be a drawback for passengers who consider champagne on board or wine pairings as integral to the premium experience.

On short-haul routes like SIN–DPS, the absence may matter less, since there is barely enough time for a full meal service. Some travelers may even prefer starting their holiday without alcohol.

Instead, Saudia emphasizes a wide range of non-alcoholic beverages, Arabic coffee, specialty teas, and juices, ensuring alternatives are available.

Fares and Redemption

For October 2025, round-trip fares on the SIN-DPS route are:

  • Business Class: S$955
  • Economy Class: S$280

These fares are competitive, though in Business Class, Saudia is sometimes priced higher than KLM.

Importantly, KLM now deploys 1-2-1 closed-door Business Class suites on all its Singapore-Bali flights, along with alcohol service, a strong advantage for many premium travelers.

Award tickets are bookable via SkyTeam programs such as Air France-KLM Flying Blue:

  • 33,500 miles one-way in Business Class
  • 15,000 miles one-way in Economy Class

Taxes and fees are higher than rivals at ~US$77.90 (S$100) per ticket from Singapore, compared to ~US$50.70 (S$65) for KLM and Singapore Airlines.

In Economy Class, cash fares often represent a better value than miles. Alternatively, Scoot offers Saver awards from just 4,500 KrisFlyer miles each way, which can be attractive when fares rise above S$150.

Final Thoughts

Saudia’s entry on the Singapore-Bali route provides travelers with a third flat-bed Business Class choice. Its modern Boeing 787 cabins, competitive fares, and award availability strengthen competition on this busy sector.

However, drawbacks include limited flight frequency, late-night return timings, and the airline’s alcohol-free policy. Compared to KLM and Singapore Airlines, Saudia lacks daily schedules and premium lounge partnerships.

Still, more competition benefits passengers, and for those prioritizing price or availability, Saudia is worth consideration.

For travelers who value champagne, frequent schedules, or top-tier lounge experiences, KLM and Singapore Airlines remain the stronger picks.
