By mid-November, Germany announced revolutionary changes in the approach to military service. As of January 1, 2026, all 18-year-old men will be required to complete the survey and pass the compulsory medical commission. Although the service is to stay formally voluntary, the government clearly makes it clear: if there are not adequate volunteers, restoring compulsory collection will become a fact.
