Reichs: Cochlear implantation surgery

Doctors from the University Clinical infirmary (USK) of Fryderyk Chopin in Rzeszów performed the first in Podkarpacie a cochlear implantation operation. The treatment in a patient with deep proceeding failure opens a fresh phase in laryngological treatment in the region – the facility reported.

So far, residents of the state requiring specified specialized assistance had to search support in distant centres in another parts of the country. The gastropod implant is an advanced device for those who do not have the conventional proceeding aids to improve. The strategy allows you to bypass damaged parts of the ear and straight stimulate the auditory nerve, allowing you to hear sounds.

The procedure was conducted by dr n.med. Wojciech Domka, Head of the Clinic of Otolaryngology, Children's Otolaryngology and Oncology in Rzeszowska USK.

The infirmary is already planning to qualify further people for the treatments and supply them with full post-operative care and proceeding rehabilitation.
