Duda blocked the bill allowing intellectual assistance to children without parental consent
At the end of Duda's office he vetoed 2 laws. This is about the liquidation of the Copernicus Academy and the Copernicus Main School, as well as the law on the Academy of Justice.
However, the decision to mention the Constitutional Act to the Constitutional Court to extend access to intellectual assistance for young people was the most emotional.
In an interview with TV, president Andrzej Duda explained that he directed the bill to the Constitutional Court for 1 reason, as he considers the safety of children. He besides explained that referring the bill to the Constitutional Tribunal under preventive control means that "this law will not enter into force"
The bill to which the President's decision applies changes the rules on the provision of psychiatric assistance to children and young people. The bill was tabled by Members of the Civic Coalition. Work on it lasted over 3 years. The creation process was attended by representatives of youth organisations and the current Spokeswoman of Children's Rights, Monika Horna-Cieślak.
Government spokesperson sharp about Duda's actions
The President's decision was powerfully criticised by government spokesperson Adam Szpiek. On TVN24's one-on-one program, he announced that the government would not resign and would fight to implement the bill.
