The government accepted the draft increase in the sugar levy. Energy and sweet drinks have been costly since 2027

The Council of Ministers adopted a draft amendment to the Public wellness Act, which assumes a crucial increase in the alleged sugar levy and an extension of the list of products covered by it. The fresh rules, prepared by the Ministry of Finance, are to enter into force on 1 January 2027. According to estimates in the Impact Assessment, the additional gross from this tribute will amount to nearly PLN 1.5 billion per year.
