On the weekend at Jasna Góra in Czestochowa there is the XXXIV Pilgrimage of the household of Radio Maryja. On Saturday, during 1 of the Masses, the founder and manager of Radio Maryja, Father Tadeusz Rydzyk, powerfully criticized the activities of the Coalition government on 15 October and the Ministry of Education, headed by Minister Barbara Nowack.

– Let us not let holiness to be abused! – appealed Rydzyk from the pulpit, referring to the current political situation in Poland. In the following words he referred to Barbara Nowacka's actions.

Rydzyk hit Nowacka on Jasna Góra. Anti-government clergyman’s appearance

– erstwhile I see a minister who says there will be no religion, I say: what do you think you are doing, Poland is not your farm, what does that mean? – he said.

And he continued: –We Catholics, let us not let ourselves spit on the Church and the Lord God. Let's not quit on ourselves. People request to be put in good minds, due to the fact that what happens in Poland is simply a consequence of people having their heads crossed."

These were not the only political statements of priests who died during the pilgrimage. Bishop Wiesław Mering spoke equally harshly. The clergyman said "Polish is ruled by political gangsters today".

– Again, as in communist times, erstwhile patriotism, fact and past and traditions taught us in our homes, due to the fact that Polish political gangsters present rule. You were most likely amazed at the strong term, but I quoted only Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of the Government, due to the fact that he said so [...] recently," he said.

A dispute over religion in schools. The church wants the state to pay him 2 hours a week.

In the background of these statements, there is simply a dispute over the transfer of religion in schools. In early July, the Constitutional Court elected by the Law and Justice Board ruled that the decree of the Ministry of Education, according to which from September religion and ethics were to be conducted for state money of 1 hr a week, was incompatible with the constitution.

Barbara Nowacka then said in an interview with Onet that this is "an effort to destabilise the education system, where a group pretending to be a tribunal, along with bishops, undermines the government's action".

The Minister of Education added that "the laughter wakes up erstwhile these 3 fresh PiS politicians talk about the constitution and its adherence". The head of the Ministry of Education besides announced that the government would not recognise a ruling issued in line with Bogdan Święczkowski, Krystyna Pawłowicz and Stanisław Piotrowicz.

The problem of catechesis in schools has been controversial for a long time, which we have written more about here.
