Ryanair, 1 of the largest and most popular airlines in Europe, besides decided to fight this problem. On Wednesday, the company announced that a suit had been filed against a passenger whose behaviour forced an unplanned landing of an aircraft in Portugal.
The incidental occurred in April 2024, during a flight from Dublin to Lanzarote. The aircraft landed in Porto due to a ‘inappropriate behaviour’ of 1 of the passengers. This delayed the journey by night, exposing others to inconveniences, and the company to additional costs.
Ryanair claims a compensation of EUR 15 000 from Ireland, justifying the costs of forced landing and providing accommodation for 160 passengers. The company announces that it will take decisive steps to limit inappropriate behaviour on board the aircraft.
