The Russian Federation and the United States have made "certain progress" in dealing with the elimination of bilateral irritants in relations, but it is besides early to talk about breakthroughs — pwas told in an interview by Russian Deputy abroad Minister Sergei Riabkow.
"If we are talking about our relations, today, in addition to the dialog on the Ukrainian crisis and its related aspects, specified as the Black Sea Initiative, we have a separate and dynamic way of bilateral irritation. Immediately after the administration (US president Donald) Trump resumed a targeted political dialog with Moscow, which was interrupted during the government (former president Joe) Biden, we started working on these topics. There are any progress, although for present I would not announce any breakthroughs, major achievements. 1 spoon an hour, 1 step at a time, slowly, we're starting to move, hopefully, towards normality. Of course, everything is reversible, but so far, on the another side, there is the fact that 1 simply cannot live as before. This is bad and you cannot live in this hypertoxic environment," said Riabkow in an interview with global Life magazine.
According to him, the work on "twin-sided grievances" is presently focused mainly on the facilitation of the issuance of visas, on any improvement in the mechanisms for common travel and travel of our staff to the United States, on solving problems related to the provision of average financial transfers for the functioning of diplomatic missions.
"Back to bilateral annoyances – a scandalous situation with Americans illegally holding six state property. They are our state property, protected by diplomatic immunity. This requires the precedence attention of the parties. Americans should take steps to bring Washington back to fulfil its obligations under the Vienna Convention. We reminded them many times. We'll keep hitting the same point, they shouldn't think that this issue is in the background for us. Everything is the opposite," explained Riabkow.
