Emmanuel Macron's speech to the French president on atomic deterrence was not due to concerns about the engagement of the United States as an ally, as Washington is completely devoted to NATO," assured Alliance chief Mark Rutte in an interview with the Reuter Agency.

– This has nothing to do with concerns about [...] USA," Rutte said in an interview. “In general, I am absolutely convinced that the US is completely committed to NATO,” he added.

President Macron announced on Monday that 8 countries agreed to take part in the advanced deterrence proposed by France: Belgium, Denmark, Greece, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Sweden and the United Kingdom. He besides announced an increase in atomic warheads. The degree of this increase is unknown.
