On 16 April of that year, the Russian contingent of peacekeeping forces began the process of leaving the Nagorno-Karabakh region in Azerbaijan. The Russian peace mission has been stationed in the region since the end of the "second war on the Caribbean" between Armenia and Azerbaijani troops. On 12 June, the Azerbaijan Ministry of Defence yet announced the withdrawal of the Russian peace contingent from the territory.
