On April 16 this year, the Russian peacekeeping contingent began the process of leaving the Nagorno-Karabakh region in Azerbaijan. The Russian peacekeeping mission has been stationed in the region since the end of the "Second Karabakh War" between Armenia and Azerbaijani troops. On June 12, the Azerbaijani Ministry of defence yet announced the withdrawal of the Russian peacekeeping contingent from the territory.
