The past fewer weeks have brought many uncertainties and changes in relations between the United States and Russia. According to Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri Pieskov, in an interview with the American station CNN, Kremlin and the White home have not yet discussed the possible gathering of Russian president Vladimir Putin and US president Donald Trump. This is simply a fresh speech in the information on this issue from the Russian side, which may mean crucial changes in both countries' policies.

The Russian side stressed that the leaders had so far only determined whether their gathering was necessary, but the venue or date of the gathering had not yet been set. This is further information on the planned meeting, which is much different from the erstwhile one. In the past Leonid Słucki, head of the State Duma's abroad Affairs Committee, stated that Trump and Putin's gathering could take place in February or March, and preparations for the US-Russian summit are at an "advanced stage".

Both leaders had already declared their willingness to meet, but US president Donald Trump would like to address the issue of the end of Russia's war with Ukraine, which is 1 of his most crucial points in the election program. At the start of the race for President's office, Trump assured that in the first days he would end the war, but after winning the election, his administration and he himself explained that it would happen alternatively during the first six months of their rule.

However, Britain has no illusions about Russia's intentions. David Lammy, head of the British Ministry of abroad Affairs, stated in Kiev that Russia does not show a serious approach to peace negotiations in the war against Ukraine. "I believe that at this phase we do not see Russia taking negotiations and peace seriously. Putin's conditions last year were not the basis on which a sovereign country (Ukraine) could be seriously expected to start negotiations," Lammy said at a press conference with Ukraine's abroad Minister, Andry Sybiha.

According to Lammy, Russia has tried to engage Ukraine many times, but has never shown a serious interest in reaching an agreement. Lammy stated that Britain would proceed to support Ukraine in its efforts for peace and stableness in the region.

In this context, the planned gathering of Trump and Putin may be crucial for the situation in Ukraine. If Russia is truly curious in ending the war, then gathering Trump may be her chance to engage in constructive talks. However, if Russia does not show a serious approach to negotiations, the gathering can only be another chance to strengthen its position in the region.

It is worth noting that the United States and Russia have crucial differences in their interests and policies in the region. The United States is curious in maintaining a peaceful and unchangeable situation in Ukraine, while Russia seeks to strengthen its position in the region and keep control of Ukraine.

According to UN data, the war in Ukraine caused the deaths of over 13,000 people and over 1.5 million people lost their homes. This war has been 1 of the biggest conflicts in Europe since planet War II.

In this context, the planned Trump and Putin gathering may be crucial for the situation in Ukraine and in the region. If Russia is truly curious in ending the war, then gathering Trump may be her chance to engage in constructive talks. However, if Russia does not show a serious approach to negotiations, the gathering can only be another chance to strengthen its position in the region.
