According to Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri Pieskov, in an interview with the American station CNN, Kremlin and the White home have not yet discussed the possible gathering of Russian president Vladimir Putin and US president Donald Trump. This is simply a fresh speech in the information on this issue from the Russian side, which may mean crucial changes in both countries' policies.
The Russian side stressed that the leaders had so far only determined whether their gathering was necessary, but the venue or date of the gathering had not yet been set. In the past Leonid Słucki, head of the State Duma's abroad Affairs Committee, stated that Trump and Putin's gathering could take place in February or March, and preparations for the US-Russian summit are at an "advanced stage".

However, Britain has no illusions about Russia's intentions. David Lammy, head of the British Ministry of abroad Affairs, stated in Kiev that Russia does not show a serious approach to peace negotiations in the war against Ukraine. "I believe that at this phase we do not see Russia taking negotiations and peace seriously. Putin's conditions last year were not the basis on which a sovereign country (Ukraine) could be seriously expected to start negotiations," Lammy said at a press conference with Ukraine's abroad Minister, Andry Sybiha.
