Russian and American diplomats discussed conditions for ceasefire in Ukraine in Moscow. The Russian side was presented with an American-Ukrainian task in this regard. The Russians have revealed their demands and it looks like they are barraged, calculated to dig an even deeper division between the US and Europe.
Russia rejects the ceasefire plan. 2 people acquainted with the case told Reuters that Russia had presented Washington a list of requests, whose aim is to establish peace in Ukraine and to reset relations with the United States. These people stated that the demands were akin to those made earlier by the Kremlin, including, among others, the refusal of Kiev's membership in NATO, the designation of Russia's claims to Crimea and 4 Ukrainian provinces, and the agreement not to deploy abroad troops in Ukraine.
With respect to the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, Moscow, which, according to the Western media, was expected to be "on the manikin", came out of defensive oppression. Its representatives were to conclude that the implementation of this solution would only lead to the strengthening of Kiev's position.
They demanded that during the month's ceasefire, Ukraine stopped mobilising and training fresh soldiers and accepting supplies of western weapons. It's a very clever play, impossible to fulfill. Suffice to remind you that the US has just restored the arms supply to Kiev, and the European States are sending it all the time.
Importantly, at the time of the talks, the US lost 1 of the key cards in the negotiations – the Russians de facto kicked the Ukrainians out of the Kurdish circuit. The second already control only a fewer insignificant villages, just off the border, most likely to be expelled in the coming days. During Putin's visit to Kursk, Chief of General Staff Walerij Gierasimov informed him that Russian troops had recovered 1,100 square kilometres of territory, including 259 square kilometres in the last 5 days. Even Western experts confirm this.
"We hope that the United States will take into account our demands for a solution to the crisis in Ukraine. ... 30-day temporary ceasefire. Well, what's that gonna do? That won't do us any good. It will only make the anticipation of regrouping Ukrainians, strengthening and continuing existing activities – said Vladimir Putin's advisor Yuri Uszakov.
The Kremlin's demands are broad and akin to those previously presented by it by Ukraine, the US and NATO. It seems that Russia has entered into the shoes of a triumphant, setting conditions and claiming that if the another organization does not accept the present proposals, others will only be heavier. Among another things, the annexation of subsequent Ukrainian circuits – Sumaskie and Kharkovsky – may be involved.
What will the United States do to bring peace at all costs? We don't know yet.
