As a consequence of close contact between the Russian Su-27 and the MQ-9 Reaper drone, the American device was "seriously damaged" and knocked down. Russia is hunting a wreck. Shortly after the incident, U.S. operators took steps to clear the drone from crucial data so that it would not fall into enemy hands.
