Romania ordered 32 F-35A in November 2024. These machines are expected to cost US$6.5 billion, with no weapons and no infrastructure expenditure. The start of Romanian F-35A supplies was scheduled for 2030. Anonymous sources of the portal say that in order for the device maker Lockheed Martin to start production preparations, i.e. ordering materials and components, he must receive an advance of 30% of the contract value. This advance is to be paid by the U.S. government, mediating acquisition under the FMS procedure. However, even the American government must receive this money first from Romania.
