The MCM Black Sea initiative is late, but inactive a essential consequence to the Black Sea threats that emerged as a consequence of the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022. The main nonsubjective of the initiative is to combat both Russian and Ukrainian seamines, which have more frequently threatened the safety of shipping and the population since the war, as evidenced by many incidents reported close the borders of Romania and another Black Sea countries. Talks on this issue have been going on since September last year. On 11 January this year, the initiative took on a more formal character, at which time Minister of Defence of Romania Angel Tîlvăr, Minister of Defence of Turkey Yaşhar Güler and Deputy Minister of Defence of Bulgaria Atanas Zaprianov signed an agreement on the Mine Countermeasures Black Sea (MCM Black Sea) initiative at the Istanbul meeting. It concerns the creation of a naval task force to combat seamines in the Black Sea. The funds allocated to the task will come from the budgets of the Ministry of National Defence of individual countries.
